How do you know who to listen to, who to follow, who to go into business with, who to marry…? Jesus has some good ideas about that in Matthew 7.

Do not call conspiracy
everything this people calls a conspiracy;
do not fear what they fear,
and do not dread it (Isaiah 8:12)
Believers ought to stand out because of the difference in what we fear.
What draws all your attention? The things of earth or the treasures of heaven? That focus makes all the difference.
Nobody cares about our faith unless they can see in us the difference it makes. And Jesus clearly describes that difference in the Sermon on the Mount. Today, we’ll start with what he says about our treasures.
Jesus identified himself “as one who serves”. If you’re looking for a purpose statement for your life, that’s a good place to start.
Can I be honest with you for a second? Can you be honest with me? If we can’t be honest, we don’t have anything on which to build a relationship.
In spite of what they tell you, there are PLENTY of shortcuts in life, and many of them are quite legitimate. This message is about avoiding the ones that aren’t.
We all get our feelings hurt. Letting those feelings harden can be deadly. So we do we do it?
Everyone knows that life is unfair. But how are you going to live in response?
